About CAPSIT

The Center for Advanced Public Safety Technologies Inc. (CAPSIT) is a software services company located in Jacksonville, FL. We specialize in mission-critical, high-availability web applications for public safety, justice and law enforcement.

The Center for Advanced Public Safety Information Technologies was formed in 2003 based on the idea that software can be built better, faster, cheaper and more reliably when teams of professionals join together to solve common problems. We are committed to the idea that the next generation mission-critical systems will be built by collaborative teams using transparent source code and no-fee software distribution. We call this Community Source Development.

We believe that software quality improves faster when a community of users combine their efforts across a well organized cohesive group. The CAPSIT Community provides an environment where users and developers work together to define, develop and enhance advanced public safety systems.

There are no license fees to use CAPSIT projects. Every CAPSIT project is licensed under a unique open, no-fee license that allows government agencies to use systems without having to pay license fees. While we have not been able to eliminate all of the costs associated with a new system (e.g. hardware, third-party software, installation, support), our goal is to drive the cost of mission critical systems down as much as possible. We believe that this model is the most cost effective and will ultimately result in systems that are many times more affordable to acquire and operate than any alternative currently available.
