General Questions

Who can use OpenScheduler?
Almost any business that needs to schedule their employees and manage and track time can use OpenScheduler. OpenScheduler is particularly well suited for organizations that have a diverse workforce and complex scheduling needs such as 24-hour shift workers.  A sample of the types of organizations that can use OpenScheduler are: Police Departments, Fire Departments, EMS workers, Alarm and Security companies, Hospitals, Restaurants.

My Team uses paper schedules and they hate using computers. Can I still use OpenScheduler?
Yes. We've made it a priority to make scheduling easy!  If you can navigate a basic web site, you can use OpenScheduler.  Even though your scheduling rules might be complicated, managing your day to day schedules doesn't have to be.

Can my view and update their schedules online?
Yes. OpenScheduler is designed to be used online.  There's nothing to install or configure on your computers.  If you have a computer with Internet access, you're all set and can begin using OpenScheduler immediately. 

Can I host OpenScheduler on my own site?
Yes. OpenScheduler we do offer custom installations for very large organizations.  Pricing and implementation plans are each customized.  Contact us for more information.

Getting Started

How long does it take to implement OpenScheduler?
You can be up and running the same day you sign up. Since OpenScheduler is online, you can start setting up your schedules immediately. 

How much training do we need?
OpenScheduler has been designed with an intuitive interface that most users can pick up in a few hours with no formal training. 

Can I customize OpenScheduler for my operation?
OpenScheduler's customization capability is our strength.  After working with over 500 different schedules from hundreds of clients around the world, we quickly realized that we were not going to be able to create a one-size-fits-all system.  That's why, OpenScheduler is so flexible.  You control every aspect of your schedules.  We have yet to find a schedule that we cannot accomodate. 

What if I need special assistance with setting up my schedules?

How much does BlueService cost?

What if I decide to cancel?
No problem. Simply notify us and your service will be cancelled.  There is no penalty or cancellation fee.

Can I convert my trial account into a paid subscription?
Yes. All of the data you enter during the trail period will be saved and ready for you to start using immediately. 

What commitment do you need from me?
There are no long-term sales contracts with OpenScheduler. You simply agree to abide by our standard terms of service and make your annual payment.  After the first year, we'll bill you annually. 

Security

Will my data be kept private and safe?
Absolutely. We're totally committed to keeping your data private and secure. Our servers are protected behind firewalls and located in a top-tier, secure data center.

Will OpenScheduler ever use my data?
No. Your data belongs to you, and you alone. We will never allow anyone else to ever view or have access to your information under any circumstances, guaranteed. Our data center partners are industry leaders who have taken measures to ensure the highest level of security for your information.

Do you offer SSL encrypted access to my account?
Yes. All OpenScheduler plans offer active SSL encryption. 

Reliability

How reliable is your hosted service?
OpenScheduler has partnered with two premier hosting companies, located in different parts of the Country for complete redundancy.  These world-class hosting companies each independently manage the network and server infrastructure to insure reliability, performance, and security for our customers’ data and services:

• The Network. The data center has high-bandwidth network connections consisting of three fiber rings with dual entry points. They have demonstrated over 99% network availability.
• Security and Monitoring. The data center is equipped with state-of-the-art security including card readers, biometrics, and intrusion detection. Environmental monitoring sensors detect variations in temperature and humidity, as well as smoke and other changes in critical areas. The on-site network operations center is staffed 24 x7 with expert personnel.
• Uninterruptible Power and HVAC: With a redundant, uninterruptible power system and backup generator, the data center is engineered to deliver seamless power and redundant HVAC systems to keep BlueService up and running and available to you.

Is my data backed up?
Yes. All of the data in your account is backed-up nightly and multiple copies of the backups are retained in order to facilitate quick restoration in the unlikely event of a system failure.

How scalable is OpenScheduler? 
OpenScheduler has the capacity to scale to an enterprise of any size. The architecture behind OpenScheduler was designed from the ground up to support thousands of users and organizations. Our applications are pure web applications written in Java and designed to be robust, resiliant and extreamly fast.
